Why I Blog

Yesterday I was tagged by Brandon Hopkins as part of the "Why I Blog" meme. Without further ado here are my five reasons for blogging.

1. I Enjoy Writing: I've always enjoyed writing and reading. Blogging, of course, is a great outlet for writing and an exceptional method for honing your own writing style.
2. I Love Technology: I've always been a geek - even when I wasn't I really was. In high school I authored our school's first website. Through college I was always fixing everyone's laptops and even put together the website for our college newspaper. Blogging gives me an outlet for writing about my favorite tech topics.
3. Boredom: When I get home from work I can choose to watch re-runs, I can play video games, or I can blog.  Sometimes it's re-runs and blogging, sometimes it's just gaming.  Occassionally it's even blogging about gaming...
4. Getting Things Done: Besides the fact that blogging fills me with a sense of accomplishment it also helps me stay motivated. While I'm bloging I constantly have a sense of the things I want to do and need to do. Because I blog on the things that interest me, I'm always aware of what needs to be done and I have a good sense of what needs to be done next.
5. The Dream of being a ProBlogger: I really got into blogging because of Darren Rowse. My father had asked me to help design a website for his business and along the way I found this word: blog. The curiosity got me going and I quickly stumbled on Darren's ProBlogger site. The idea of being able to write about the things that interest you and simultaneously make a living is an enticing one. Everyday that I blog I get closer to potentially making a living writing about what I love. Maybe through a blog that makes money - maybe by getting a job based on my writing experience. Who knows ... the future is still unwritten.
