An Interactive Experiment with Technorati Favorites

In the past several hours I've received about a half dozen requests to be "faved" by sites of questionable integrity. If not for my installation of NoScript one would have taken down my work PC with a piece of anti-virus spyware/malware while others have had adult content and other questionable materials. I'm happy to have participated up until now but have decided to call it quits. I've favorited many good sites but can't risk causing damage to a PC in exchange for a few more links. Thanks for taking part and please be careful when clicking on any links sent to you.

About a week ago my Technorati rating got a huge bump thanks to a group project I participated in over at Daily Blog Tips. As a result I've become something of a Technorati stat addict. It's amazing how quickly your rating can rise on that service thanks to a few incoming links.

While I've been obsessing over my Technorati rank I've also been watching the service closely trying to get a better sense of how I can tie it into my daily blogging habits. Dosh Dosh gave me the perfect impetus to start blogging about some of Technorati's finer points. Right now Dosh Dosh is running an interactive experiment with Technorati's Favorites.

The "favorites exchange" that Maki is proposing is certainly interesting. I'm curious to see what kind of traffic can be generated by this type of an exchange as well as what kind of result being "favorited" can have on your blog. Because the exchange is reciprocal you're bound to feel a little bit of the outcome just by participating.

    I’d like to start a similar link exchange at my blog, so I’ll link back here when I post about the experiment later today. If the wait is too much, the post will boil down to recommending that my readers add a comment to your post, and click the favourite me link in all the other comments.
