Firefox Tip: Turn Text URLs into links

One thing I love about Firefox is the fact that so many things seem to just happen. I see something, in this case it was a URL that was only written out in text (no hyper link,) and I thought: "Wouldn't it be great if I could just highlight it and go?"
Turns out you can - sort of. If you're browsing around a site and find a text link only available in text format ( bill2me.com ) highlight it and then drag it to the address bar. Just hit enter and away you go. If you're using the bookmarks toolbar you also have the option of dragging the highlighted text there to get an instant bookmark for later inspection.
As an added bonus you can copy a URL out of a text document, swap to Firefox and bookmark the link just by right-clicking on your bookmarks toolbar and selecting paste.

I feel your pain!!
I have the same problem and don’t understand why there is no FIREFOX fix for it. I have done some searches and find many references to the problem but no real fixes.
When I send something in Yahoo email using IE, any URLs I copy into my email text area get highlighted and are sent in my email. They are click-able by the recipients of my email.
When I send with Firefox (which I love) I have to go thru an annoying process of creating hyperlinks (via the globe and chain icon in the yahoo email toolbar) which adds extra steps and time when I want to send highlighted URLs. If I don’t go through the steps, the recipient has to copy and paste the URL. Annoying for everyone.
Why can’t Firefox do the same automatically as IE??

I cant paste URLS into an email and have them converted to hyperlinks. It works with IE. I have an extension that lets me hotlink anything that I highlight and click on, that is not the problem. It is the people I send emails to with embedded urls that complain about having to cut and paste the urls instead of just clicking on them. I search and search and its like saying the king has no clothes. Surely other Firefox users get complaints from their friends who they send emails to with embedded urls.
