Is MyBlogLog an AdSense TOS Violation?

This is still only a rumor!  What's at question here is whether MyBlogLog's click tracking constitutes "sharing" of click stats with a third party.  While the MyBlogLog script cannot see your earnings it can "share" information about what types of ads are performing better than others.

While browsing through my feed reader today I spotted a post that was hard to ignore,"Could Using MyBlogLog Get You Banned From Adsense?" Over the past month or so the MyBlogLog widget has spread like wildfire across the blogosphere. Being able to put a face on your readers is an incredibly enticing prospect. Of course with great power comes great responsibility.

In the past week MyBlogLog has suffered from a bit of bad publicity. First was the "co-author" spam issue last weekend. I, as well as many others, found myself listed as the co-author of several splogs. In my case, the "delete this e-mail" link actually led to the approval dialog.

Towards the end of this week another issue popped up. Jeremy Schoemaker of ShoeMoney was recently banned from MyBlogLog for various reasons. I'm not going to get into why - I really am indifferent to it. What's funny here, and what leads me to believe this might have been some type of publicity stunt by MyBlogLog, is the fact that ShoeMoney is a major "player" in the blogs on blogs and SEO spheres.

Awhile back I noticed my AdSense links popping up in the MyBlogLog "View Site Stats" page but didn't really think much of it. While I don't think this is a complete violation of the Google TOS I have to agree that it's certainly suspect. To be safe I've removed the code from my site and also will be contacting Google for clarification.   I recommend everyone that's running AdSense and MyBlogLog to at least contact Google.
