Adding OpenSearch to your WordPress Blog

Late last week Lifehacker posted a piece on detecting Firefox-compatible search engines. In the past I'd noticed the glowing green search box while visiting Technorati but hadn't really thought much of it.

As it turns out Firefox 2.0 and IE 7 can both detect when a site uses "OpenSearch" formats and also allow for easy incorporation into a browser. When setup properly they basically give the user a chance to add a custom search interface to the IE or Firefox window. After a bit of hard work I've figured out the system for setting up an "OpenSearch" xml document.

If you know your readers are searching your blog, this is a simple tweak that can be really helpful.

I was going to writeup a full 'How to' on this but there's already a great one over at LiewCF so why re-invent the wheel. Check out Liew's great post!
