Why Extended Warranties are Good for You

I have to respectfully dissagree with a post that's up on Aeropause today. The post, Extended Warranties are Bad for You, rehashes something I've heard several times before. Can you guess what it is?
A few months back my XBox360 died and I was forced to return to Best Buy and use my Product Replacement Plan. I walked in, handed my XBox360 to the woman behind the counter, and was promptly handed a new 360.
All I had to do was provide my phone number, because I didn't have the paperwork, and explain what was wrong.
Here's the best part ... they didn't offer me a plan for the new system, I had to ask for one. For $50 more I got a new plan to cover the replaced system starting from that moment forward.
They didn't try to sell me on anything, didn't give me a hard time, didn't care that I didn't have my paperwork and didn't make me jump through hoops.
This experience is one of the main reasons I buy most of my expensive electronics through Best Buy and why I always get the Extended Warranty from companies I trust.
